Overview

RatScanner is an open-source desktop tool that identifies Escape from Tarkov items from screenshots and displays item data in an overlay. It operates externally and does not access game memory.

Getting Started

    Download the latest ZIP

    Download RatScanner.zip from the official GitHub Releases page. The project website may lag behind the latest release.

    Extract and launch

    Extract the ZIP to a permanent folder, then run RatScanner.exe. Do not launch it directly from inside the archive.

    Configure the overlay

    Choose which item details appear in the overlay, set opacity, and confirm your scan hotkeys.

    Scan an item

    Name scanning: open an item inspection window and click the magnifier. Icon scanning: hold the configured modifier key and left-click an item. RatScanner screenshots the item and displays its data.

Troubleshooting

RatScanner does not start

Extract the full release folder first, then run the executable from that folder. If Windows or antivirus blocks it, confirm the file came from the official repository.

No item is detected

Make sure the item inspection UI is fully visible, then try name scanning from the magnifier or icon scanning with the configured modifier.

Overlay does not appear

Switch Tarkov to borderless or windowed mode. Exclusive fullscreen often hides overlays.

Prices look outdated

RatScanner pulls market data from a third-party source, so values can lag behind live flea-market changes.

Common Questions

Will RatScanner get me banned?

RatScanner reads item tooltips using screen capture and does not modify the game client or interact with game servers. Battlestate Games' stance on third-party tools can change, so use at your own risk.

Does RatScanner work with the flea market?

Yes. It shows current flea-market prices and can help compare flea versus trader value.

Can RatScanner show items needed for TarkovTracker?

It can show general item information from its data provider. For requirements based on your personal TarkovTracker progress, use the Needed Items page.

Does RatScanner work with TarkovTracker.org?

Yes. Install RatScanner, open the TarkovTracker section in its settings, and switch the TarkovTracker backend from .io to .org before entering your tarkovtracker.org API token. The TarkovTracker.org team now helps maintain RatScanner, so .org integration and defaults will keep improving in future releases.
